Abstract:
With the increasing anthropogenic nitrogen input, urban river ecosystem has become an important source of atmospheric N2O. However, there is still insufficient analysis on the monitoring and influencing factors of N2O in typical river networks of lakeside city, especially for the quantitative evaluation of their response to the current widespread water ecological restoration projects. We chose the Binhu District of Wuxi City as a typical area to study the spatial distribution pattern and influencing factors of N2O dissolved in the urban river network, and to elucidate its response to ecological restoration. Results showed that: (1) the N2O concentration in urban river network of lakeside city had significant spatial variability, with low value areas mainly located in the estuary area of the lake and in the river sections where water quality has significantly improved after ecological restoration; (2) The concentration of N2O was mainly affected by dissolved nitrogen in rivers, especially nitrate nitrogen; (3) The water quality and dissolved N2O concentration in river networks were affected by the dual effects of human pollution emissions and ecological restoration on water quality improvement. The ecological restoration of heavily polluted river sections could achieve both nutrient removal and N2O emission reduction.
